The Department of Defense (DoD) has invested billions in sensors, autonomous systems, and weaponry across land, sea, air, and space. However, development of these systems often occurs in silos, resulting in a collection of sophisticated but disjointed technologies that struggle to work together effectively. America’s ability to maintain its strategic advantage in the face of evolving threats is hindered by two critical issues: a lack of interoperability across defense systems and assumptions about communications reliability in warfare.

Decades of fighting in environments with persistent connectivity have shaped the DoD’s reliance on guaranteed communication links to a “central” command. The conflicts of tomorrow, however, demand decentralized, real-time decision-making at the tactical edge, where communications are often degraded or denied. Sending data back to data centers — whether in Washington or forward-deployed headquarters — is no longer feasible in these scenarios.

Members of the program gain access to the full Lattice developer experience, including developer sandboxes, detailed documentation, reference applications, representative data sets, and testing and validation resources to ensure seamless interoperability.

Textron Systems has teamed with Anduril on multiple DoD exercises, integrating Lattice onto the Aerosonde® UAS.

Apex’s first Aries satellite bus hosted Anduril’s edge-processing payload, illustrating the power of collaborative innovation in mission-critical applications. Integration of Forterra’s AutoDrive equipped self-driving vehicles into Anduril’s Lattice platform is driving optimization of human-machine teaming, while reducing cognitive loads across the ground domain. Together, Anduril and Oracle provide the ability to bi-directionally transport data in both connected and disrupted, disconnected, intermittent and low-bandwidth (DDIL) environments, so that software and sensors stay updated during times of competition or conflict. When cloud connectivity is degraded, the Anduril Lattice Data Mesh with Oracle Cloud from core to edge allows operators — and Anduril partners — to seamlessly continue mission, connecting back to core cloud resources only when desired. Finally, Valinor will provide defense technology founders with the best-in-class software resources from Anduril through the Lattice Partnership Program to accelerate product delivery to end-users.
